Bronze Trumpet Flower

Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This large flower grows up to 3.7 feet (1.1 meters) tall. Its slate and green stems grow in bunches of 8 and are very thin with a curved tip, and the tiny, brown or hazel leaves are perforated with smooth edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and a pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

A single tiny flower sits at the end of the stem. The flowers are 78 cm (30.7 inches) wide, with petals that are sky blue on the edges and bronze at the center. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet made up of 7 widely spaced, narrow petals. They are hardy.

It has a weak scent that smells like alcohol, and it has an average amount of pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects , but is also visited by a small species of bird.
