Burgundy Succulent

This short cactus grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall. The pleated stem is gray, and is covered in large amounts of fine, pale green, hair-like spines. The wedge-shaped body is burgundy, and is covered in sharp spines.

It is steady-growing, taking 9 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are black in the center, florescent blue in the middle and slate at the edges, grow at the top, reappearing after 6 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a cup made up of 4 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. It has no scent.

The cactus's skin is delicate, the silver flesh is smooth, and the amber sap is thin.
