Copperpine

This big tree grows up to 81 meters (265.8 feet) tall and lives "forever", with many known specimens being tens of thousands of years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a stocky, straight trunk covered in hard, knobbly, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the very light wood is yellow-brown.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright, with thousands of twigs covered with large amounts of small, copper needles. The needles themselves are rigid.

In late summer it produces medium-sized, silver, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
