Black Thorned Agave

This modest-sized leaf succulent grows up to 70 feet (21.3 meters) tall. The spear shaped stem is moss green, and is covered in brittle bronze spines. The ripped-edged, thin leaves are beige on the sides and black at the center. Large amounts of them grow from the base in tight-packed layers. The leaves are sturdy, but take little effort to detach.

It is quick growing, taking 2 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with solid bronze petals decorated with cream dots and a lime central disk, grow at the top, reappearing once every 4 years. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 27 curved petals. It has a fairly strong scent that smells like sweat.

The leaf succulent's skin is very thick, the green flesh is smooth, and the grey sap is thin.
