Copper

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short caudiciform grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall. The narrow stem is gray, and is covered in hundreds of rigid red spines. The thick, gnarled, dark yellow trunk can grow to as much as 4 feet (1.2 meters) in diameter. Its slate branches trail down towards the ground.

The ripped-edged, long, tapering leaves are either copper or sky blue, with blue streaks. They are strong, and easily come away when pulled.

It is steady-growing, taking 9 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are either hazel or white, with a yellow center, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is largely flat with 44 raised round-tipped petals. It has a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like baby powder.

The caudiciform's skin is thick, the yellow flesh is leathery, and the brown sap is thin.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It is often home to a particular bird species.
The sap is pale purple.
