Blackfire Tree

This short tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for over 1,000 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 1441 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a wide, wonky trunk covered in very thick, knobbly, black bark, and inside, the hard wood is white with black speckles.

The small bunches of branches trail down towards the ground, with hundreds of twigs covered with thick bunches of tiny, black needles. The needles themselves are delicate.

In late summer it produces medium-sized, bold orange, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
