Crimson Grass

Grass type: Perennial (Stores water in its leaves)

This small, crimson and brown grass grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall. The pleated stalks grow in thin clumps that are sturdy and flexible and they spread and grow quickly.

When mature, the end of the stem eventually transforms into a medium-sized, aquamarine spikelet.

During the early autumn, it produces copious amounts of pollen; it can can cause allergic reactions, and after flowering, it is left with copious amounts of small grains.

The sap causes severe rashes
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
