Crimson Succulent

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This short cactus grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. It splits at the base to form 3 very thin stems. Each stem is red, and is covered in dozens of rigid crimson spines. The cuboid body is blood red, and is covered in thick sheets of fine, muted green, hair-like spines.

It is quick growing, taking 11 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are azure at the sides and amber at the center, grow at the top, reappearing after 9 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of 16 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight sphere. It has a delicate scent that smells like garlic.

The cactus's skin is rock-hard, the magenta flesh is leathery, and the blood red sap is thin and causes vomiting if consumed.

It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
It can grow in even the most barren lands.
