Bloodvine

This small fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 50 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in thick, silky, silver bark, and inside, the light wood is pale brown.

The tangled mess of branches are short stubs and are covered with thick bunches of large, circular leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are blood red on the sides and silver at the center.

In early spring, it produces dozens of small, violet blossoms with 5 pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like perfume.

In late autumn it produces , circular fruit. The soft dark grey skin is stretchy and bitter, and the soft blood red flesh is sour and savoury and very juicy. The blood red seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
