Emerald

This short cactus grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. The asymmetrical stem is emerald and olive, and is dotted with small hazel spines. The cuboid body is green, and is covered in sharp spines.

It is very fast growing, taking 8 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a single flower with petals that are crimson at the sides and muted orange at the center grows at the top, reappearing after 6 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a cup made up of 4 raised, narrow petals. It has a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like a damp log.

The cactus's skin is delicate, the crimson flesh is smooth, and the purple sap is thin and can cause blindness if consumed.
