Copper Cascade Bine

Climbing plant type: Bine (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This average-sized bine is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 42 feet (12.8 meters) and growing as high as 278 feet (84.7 meters). It prefers to grow on trees.

It takes 2 years for the copper stems to mature, by which point they can have a diameter of 5 inches (13 cm) and are smooth and rubbery.

The pleated, smooth leaves reach up to 1.7 feet (51 cm) in length. They are either cream, or dull red with washed-out purple streaks, and have smooth edges.

During late spring, the bine produces handfuls of small slate flowers.
