Firebloom

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for around 46 years. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous slender, straight stems covered in thin, ridged, burgundy and brown bark, and the wood inside is dark brown.

The branches are long, thin and wispy with thousands of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of giant, very thick, leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are bold yellow on the sides and lime at the center, strong and fuzzy.

In late spring it produces lots of medium-sized, faded blue blossoms with finger-like petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a powerful scent that smells like bonfire smoke.

In early winter triangular fruits ripen. The soft yellow skin is peel-able and spicy, and the slightly crunchy bold yellow flesh is sweet and spicy and very juicy. The vibrant green seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.
