Blueberry Tree

This large fruit tree grows up to 35 feet (10.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 33 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, straight trunk covered in knobbly, gray bark, and inside, the very dense wood is black with white speckles.

The extensive patches of branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of tiny, 5 pointed leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either ashy blue or olive, with brown streaks.

In early spring, it produces clusters of small, azure blossoms with pleated petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like fish.

In mid-summer it produces tiny, triangular fruit. The fuzzy blue skin is stretchy and salty, and the crunchy cyan flesh is sweet and savoury and sticky. The lime seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.
