Spinebloom

This average-sized caudiciform grows up to 27 feet (8.2 meters) tall. The needle-like stem is pink-red, and is covered in many fine, silver, hair-like spines. The stumpy, gold trunk can grow to as much as 27 feet (8.2 meters) in diameter. Its green branches are very long and thin.

The irregular-edged, stiff, pointed leaves are found in aquamarine and orange varieties. They are tough, and are very difficult to pull away.

It is fast growing, taking 2 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are muted red on the edges and pink at the center, grow at the top, reappearing after 3 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 34 petals. It has a strong scent that smells like rotten egg.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the cream flesh is smooth, and the hazel sap is thin and can cause blindness if consumed.
