Violet Fruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This small fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 27 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a knobbly, curved trunk covered in thin, cracked, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the light wood is pine-coloured.
The branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with copious amounts of huge, 7 pointed leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are found in purple and violet varieties.
In early spring, it produces many medium-sized, violet blossoms with sickle shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a strong scent that smells like freshly baked bread.
In mid-autumn it produces , perforated fruit. The smooth amber skin is stretchy and edible when roasted; it is spicy and salty, and the very soft sky blue flesh is sweet and sticky. The black seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.
The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
The sap is edible and overwhelmingly salty.
Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
