Silverfruit Tree

This short fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 80 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in very thick, waxy, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the soft wood is pale brown-grey.

The numerous branches trail down across the ground and are covered with large amounts of small, finger-like leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are found in hazel, black and silver varieties.

In early spring, it produces thousands of medium-sized, blue blossoms with wide petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a soft scent that smells like faeces.

In early winter it produces , fan-like fruit. The rubbery silver skin is thin and inedible, and the crunchy gold flesh is sweet and sticky. The bronze seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
