Clinging Lime Tree

This big fruit tree grows up to 29 feet (8.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 26 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a knobbly, curved trunk covered in delicate, ridged, yellow bark, and inside, the soft wood is pale yellow.

The numerous branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with thick bunches of large, very thin leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are generally blood red.

In early spring, it produces many large, lime blossoms with wide petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have the faintest scent that smells like something putrid.

In early autumn it produces , oblong fruit. The clammy sky blue skin is peel-able and edible when boiled; it is sweet, and the very soft yellow flesh is sweet and oily. The caramel seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
