Blueheart Lily
Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.6 feet (48 cm) tall. Its gray-green stem is wispy, and the huge, green leaves are asymmetrical with jagged edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.
6 to 11 giant flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 45 cm (17.7 inches) wide, with solid blue petals decorated with light yellow dots and a azure central disk. The flower head is shaped like a heart made up of 10 tightly layered, narrow petals. They are sturdy.
It has no scent, and it has very little pollen, but can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is visited by a large variety of them.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
The petals are high in natural sugars
It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
