Crimson Firecup

This large flower grows up to 2.0 feet (61 cm) tall. Its vivid red or light grey stems grow in bunches of 4 and are wispy with a curved tip, and the tiny, burgundy leaves are grey on the underside and are asymmetrical with irregular edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the stem.

A single small flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 77 cm (30.3 inches) wide, with petals that are generally light brown; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour. The flower head is shaped like a cup made up of handfuls of raised, narrow petals. They are sturdy.

It has a weak scent that smells like bonfire smoke, and it has very little pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by a small species of bird.
