Amberfruit

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This small fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 41 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in knobbly, black bark, and inside, the very hard wood is yellow-brown.

The sparse amount of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with thick bunches of miniature, wispy leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are solid subtle purple with black edges.

In early spring, it produces many bunches of small, amber blossoms with 2 spiral shaped petals. They fall easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like apple.

In early winter it produces , long, tapering fruit. The rough bright orange skin is thin and edible when roasted; it is sweet, and the very soft cream flesh is bitter and syrupy. The vivid red seeds are large and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
