Copperleaf

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This big shrub grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for around 16 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has many stocky, angular stems covered in thick, rough, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is burgundy-brown.

The branches are very long and slender with thousands of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of huge, sickle shaped, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are bold purple and grey, resistant and covered in fine hairs.

It produces lots of small, yellow flowers with finger-like petals. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like old shoes. In late spring it forms tinycaramel, spiky-shelled seeds.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
It commonly grows in large patches.
It comes in 17 varieties, each with a different leaf colour.
