Purplefruit Tree

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 19 feet (5.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 31 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a narrow, crooked trunk covered in thin, rough, gray bark, and inside, the flexible wood is gray.

The large clumps of branches are short and slender and are covered with copious amounts of tiny, asymmetrical leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of emerald that gradient shifts to purple at the top.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of medium-sized, subtle purple blossoms with 3 heart-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like glue.

In early autumn it produces tiny, circular fruit. The waxy pink skin is thin and inedible, and the very soft white flesh is sweet and spicy and very dry. The black seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
