Bloodvine

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This big caudiciform grows up to 92 feet (28.0 meters) tall. The very thin stem is yellow, and is covered in dozens of flexible blood red spines. The stumpy, lime trunk can grow to as much as 92 feet (28.0 meters) in diameter. Its yellow-green branches are very long and slender.

The smooth-edged, circular leaves are either dark brown or violet, with blood red patches. They are delicate, but do not detach easily.

It is slow growing, taking 8 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with petals that are sky blue on the underside and hazel on the top grow at the top, reappearing after 10 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 50 curved petals. It has a strong scent that smells like a damp log.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the purple flesh is rough, and the peach sap is thin.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
