Bronzeberry

This short fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 25 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a flexible, straight trunk covered in delicate, ridged, yellow bark, and inside, the soft wood is gray.

The sparse amount of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of small, slender, pointed leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are slate and brown.

In early spring, it produces a handful of medium-sized, brown blossoms with 6 V-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have the faintest scent that smells like alcohol.

In early winter it produces small, stiff, pointed fruit. The rough azure skin is delicate and edible when roasted; it is bitter and sour, and the slightly crunchy bronze flesh is sweet and spicy and powdery. The bold yellow seeds are small and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
