Copper

This massive shrub grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall and lives for around 23 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many stocky, angular stems covered in paper-thin, smooth, brown-green speckled bark, and the wood inside is black with white speckles.

The branches trail down to the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of huge, perforated, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either copper or light grey, with grey streaks, strong and covered in fine hairs.

In late summer it produces several small, crimson blossoms with 6 V-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like glue.

In midwinter broad, flat fruits ripen. The crispy sky blue skin is peel-able and edible when roasted; it is bitter and sour, and the soft bronze flesh is sweet and juicy. The green seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.
