Bluefruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Sheds its leaves in winter)

This small fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 58 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a stocky, slanted trunk covered in ridged, yellow bark, and inside, the dense wood is brown.

The sparse amount of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with thick bunches of huge, kidney-shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either peach, or lilac with dark brown streaks.

In early spring, it produces many small, azure blossoms with wide petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have the faintest scent that smells like pot-purri.

In early autumn it produces small, needle-like fruit. The waxy intense blue skin is stretchy and sweet, and the crunchy lilac flesh is bland and very juicy. The crimson seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
