Limevine
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This giant caudiciform grows up to 141 feet (43.0 meters) tall. The spear shaped stem is lime green, and is covered in thousands of rigid white spines. The bulbous, bronze trunk can grow to as much as 141 feet (43.0 meters) in diameter. Its gray branches trail down to the ground.
The tattered-edged, long, narrow leaves are olive on the sides and lilac at the center. They are resilient, but take little effort to detach.
It is fast growing, taking 10 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with blood red petals and a yellow center grow at the top, reappearing once every 3 years. The flower head is largely flat with handfuls of widely spaced narrow petals. It has a weak scent that smells like glue.
The caudiciform's skin is thick, the vibrant green flesh is leathery, and the orange sap is thin.
It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
