Bluefruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 52 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, twisting trunk covered in paper-thin, ridged, dark brown bark, and inside, the soft wood is mahogany-coloured.

The excessive amount of branches are short, thin and wispy and are covered with large amounts of tiny, sickle shaped leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are solid light blue or sky blue, with magenta patches.

In early spring, it produces several giant, light grey blossoms with many layers of petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like grass cuttings.

In early summer it produces , asymmetrical fruit. The crispy crimson skin is stretchy and inedible, and the crunchy light grey flesh is bitter and sour and oily. The dark brown seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.

Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
