Bloodvine

This small caudiciform grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall. The thick stem is lime green or amber, and is covered in handfuls of flexible blood red spines. The thick, blood red trunk can grow to as much as 12 feet (3.7 meters) in diameter. Its green branches trail down towards the ground.

The ripped-edged, sickle shaped leaves are generally silver. They are flexible, but detach easily.

It is fast growing, taking 3 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with solid crimson petals decorated with washed-out green dots and a white central disk grow at the top, reappearing after 3 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of 9 petals in raised layers. It has an intense scent that smells like cherry.

The caudiciform's skin is rock-hard, the magenta flesh is waxy, and the blood red sap is thin and causes diarrhea if consumed.
