Copperfern

Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This modest-sized tree grows up to 38 meters (124.7 feet) tall and lives for over 3,000 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 3594 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, slanted trunk covered in thin, ridged, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the flexible wood is black.

The small handful of branches trail down across the ground, with dozens of twigs covered with large amounts of small, red needles. The needles themselves are light.

In late summer it produces medium-sized, dark brown aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.

Several parts of the shrub have medicinal properties.
It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if cut.
It is suitable for making strong rope
