Blackbark

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 679 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in delicate, ridged, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the very hard wood is yellow-brown.

The numerous branches are very short and slender and are covered with small amounts of sticky, large, spiral leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in sky blue, white and cyan varieties.

In early spring, it produces many clusters of medium-sized, cream blossoms with 7 flame-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have a fairly strong scent that smells like grass cuttings.

In late summer it forms small, grey, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

A particular bird species likes to nest in it.
It is slightly resistant to fire damage.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
