Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its stem)This small flower grows up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Its copper stem is thin and splits into 9 branching stems at the top, and the giant, burgundy leaves are dark silver on the underside and are spear shaped with smooth edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the stem.
Several medium-sized flowers grow along the length of the stem. The flowers are 2 cm (0.8 inches) wide, with each petal a slightly different shade of subtle blue. The flower head is made up of dozens of petals in raised layers. They detach easily.
It has a mildly strong scent that smells like sweat, and it has lots of pollen. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also visited by a variety of insects.
