Blackpine

This large tree grows up to 77 meters (252.6 feet) tall and lives for over 2,000 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 2582 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in very thick, silky, dark brown bark, and inside, the very light wood is black with white speckles.

The branches are very short and thin, with thousands of twigs covered with large amounts of giant, slate or grey needles. The needles themselves are light.

In late summer it produces large, beige, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
