Bloodfruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 17 feet (5.2 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 28 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, angular trunk covered in thick, cracked, light brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is black.

The branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of giant, very thick leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are blood red on the sides and pale yellow at the center.

In early spring, it produces many large, green blossoms with perforated petals. They fall easily and have a delicate scent that smells like cheap aftershave.

In mid-autumn it produces very large, finger-like fruit. The leathery silver skin is delicate and inedible, and the very soft blood red flesh is sweet and sour and sticky. The hazel seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for making strong rope
