Bluefruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 29 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in cracked, dark green bark, and inside, the dense wood is pale brown-grey.

The small bunches of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with small amounts of large, spiral leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are bright blue on the sides and bronze at the center.

In early spring, it produces several small, turquoise blossoms with long, narrow petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a mildly strong scent that smells like cherry.

In early summer it produces , 4 pointed fruit. The sticky green skin is tough and edible when boiled; it is savoury, and the very soft bright blue flesh is bitter and dry. The silver seeds are small and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
