Copperfruit

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This large fruit tree grows up to 43 feet (13.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 21 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, wavy trunk covered in hard, wrinkled, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the light wood is black.

The excessive amount of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of giant, finger-like leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are lime and indigo.

In early spring, it produces thousands of tiny, bronze blossoms with 6 pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have an intense scent that smells like cheap aftershave.

In early autumn it produces small, pleated fruit. The fuzzy blood red skin is peel-able and edible when boiled; it is sweet, and the very soft peach flesh is sweet and sour and very juicy. The green seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
