Speckled

This short tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 84 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, twisting trunk covered in wrinkled, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the dense wood is black with white speckles.

The numerous branches trail down to the ground and are covered with handfuls of sticky, tiny, spear shaped leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are hazel and dark green.

In early spring, it produces dozens of medium-sized, gold blossoms with circular petals. They are hardy and have no scent.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, caramel berries.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
