Copperberry

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 53 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in knobbly, yellow bark, and inside, the very dense wood is pine-coloured.

The sparse amount of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of tiny, shield-shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are copper and washed-out orange.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of tiny, orange blossoms with circular shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a strong scent that smells like roses.

In late autumn it produces , oval fruit. The rough blood red skin is stretchy and inedible, and the very soft deep blue flesh is spicy and dry. The beige seeds are small and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
