Bloodrush

Grass type: Biennial (Stores water in its leaves)

This small, emerald grass grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall. The fan-like stalks grow in sparse patches that are flimsy and they are slow to spread and grow.

When mature, the end of the stem eventually transforms into a medium-sized, blood red tuft.

During the late autumn, it produces very little pollen, and after flowering, it is left with lots of medium-sized grains.

It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
