Cyanberry

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 28 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in rough, dark brown bark, and inside, the hard wood is white with black speckles.

The branches are very short and thin and are covered with thick bunches of miniature, perforated leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of green and bright green that gradient shifts to white at the top.

In early spring, it produces thousands of small, lime blossoms with shield-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a fairly strong scent that smells like cheap aftershave.

In early summer it produces , 8 pointed fruit. The rough slate skin is tough and edible when cooked; it is bitter and salty, and the slightly crunchy cyan flesh is very sweet and very dry. The gold seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
