Azurefruit

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 83 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, curved trunk covered in waxy, dark brown bark, and inside, the very hard wood is white with black speckles.

The tangled mess of branches are long and thick and are covered with very large amounts of tiny, needle-like leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either white or light brown, with azure streaks.

In early spring, it produces a handful of medium-sized, violet blossoms with 2 spiral shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a mildly strong scent that smells like sweat.

In early winter it produces tiny, stiff, pointed fruit. The rubbery dark grey skin is tough and edible when cooked; it is bitter and salty, and the crunchy cyan flesh is sweet and powdery. The beige seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
