Indigo

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Evergreen - keeps its leaves all year round)

This small fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 54 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, angular trunk covered in thick, wrinkled, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the very light wood is gray.

The branches are long, thin and wispy and are covered with handfuls of giant, perforated leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are found in brown, orange and indigo varieties.

In early spring, it produces a handful of medium-sized, magenta blossoms with finger-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a delicate scent that smells like coffee.

In early summer it produces large, stiff, pointed fruit. The rough slate skin is peel-able and spicy, and the very soft dull yellow flesh is bitter and oily. The gold seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.

Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
