Copperfruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 73 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, angular trunk covered in wrinkled, gray bark, and inside, the light wood is copper-coloured.

The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with small amounts of large, needle-like leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of yellow-green that gradient shifts to light grey at the top.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of medium-sized, muted red blossoms with long, tapering petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have an intensely strong scent that smells like vanilla.

In mid-autumn it produces tiny, circular fruit. The smooth light purple skin is peel-able and inedible, and the very soft hazel flesh is bitter and dry. The caramel seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
