Blueberry

This large fruit tree grows up to 24 feet (7.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 32 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in delicate, silky, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the hard wood is silver.

The small handful of branches are short stubs and are covered with sparse amounts of huge, very thick leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either blue or caramel, with pink lines.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of large, red blossoms with asymmetrical petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like a newborn baby.

In early autumn it produces tiny, circular fruit. The sticky florescent yellow skin is delicate and edible when roasted; it is bitter and savoury, and the soft turquoise flesh is spicy and juicy. The dull red seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
