Ground Willow

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This modest-sized tree grows up to 32 meters (105.0 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 88 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a stocky, slanted trunk covered in hard, ridged, light gray bark, and inside, the very light wood is copper-coloured.

The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with small amounts of fuzzy, tiny, thin leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are bronze and olive.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of giant, brown blossoms with long, narrow petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like fish.

In late summer it forms tiny, black, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
The sap causes severe allergic reactions.
It releases hallucinogenic smoke when burned.
