Crimson Oasis
Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its stem)This large flower grows up to 5.7 feet (1.7 meters) tall. Its brown stems grow in bunches of 4 and are thick and straight, and the huge, burgundy leaves are white on the underside and are pleated with smooth edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the stem.
Hundreds of small flowers grow along the length of the stem. The flowers are 17 cm (6.7 inches) wide, with crimson petals that gradient shift to crimson on the outer edge. The central disk is brilliant red. The flower head is made up of 11 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight bowl. They are sturdy.
It has a soft scent that smells like rotting meat, and it has an average amount of pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird.
