Azure Trumpet
Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its leaves)This big flower grows up to 6.9 feet (2.1 meters) tall. Its brown stem is thick, and the miniature, green leaves are thick with tattered edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.
Two tiny flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 8 cm (3.1 inches) wide, with azure petals and a yellow center. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet with 8 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. They are sturdy.
It has a weak scent that smells like blood, and it has lots of pollen. It is a self-pollinator.
The leaves are high in natural sugars.
