Caramel

This average-sized flower grows up to 1.9 feet (58 cm) tall. Its bright green stem is very thick and splits into 6 branching stems at the top, and the giant, burgundy leaves are spear shaped with toothed edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

4 to 9 small flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 6 cm (2.4 inches) wide, with caramel petals on the lower layer and blood red petals decorated with faded purple dots on the inner layer. The central disk is indigo. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet with 8 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. They detach easily.

It has a mildly strong scent that smells like meat, and it has lots of pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also particularly attractive to bees.
