Pink-Red Spine Cactus

This short cactus grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall. The thick stem is pink-red, and is covered in lots of rigid yellow spines.

It is very slow growing, taking 12 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with petals that are ashy purple in the center, hazel in the middle and faded yellow at the edges grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of 59 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight bowl. It has the faintest scent that smells like pine needles.

The cactus's skin is rock-hard, the crimson flesh is sticky, and the florescent blue sap is thin.
