Burgundy Maple

This average-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 102 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has dozens of wide, straight stems covered in delicate, smooth, mahogany-coloured bark, and the wood inside is burgundy.

The branches are short stubs with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of large, asymmetrical, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are generally cyan, rigid and fuzzy.

In late summer it produces a thick sheet of small, dark grey flowers with asymmetrical petals. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like sugar.
